About the speaker:
Nathan Brammeier has a medicinal chemistry background doing oncology research for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. After recognizing the allopathic model was not sustainable, he pursued natural therapies and support. This led him to open his own practice as well as a CrossFit gym. Today Nathan works for a medical-grade supplement company, Designs for Health, delivering natural support to functional medicine practitioners across California.
There were 2 questions Nathan promised to research for us:
Q: Why is there guar gum in some DFH products? (We were specifically discussing Senolytic Synergy)
A: The partially hydrolyzed guar gum is Sunfiber, which is a galactomannan based dietary fiber. DFH uses it in powders and some encapsulated products to help with the runability and it doesn't impact flavor, color, texture, etc. ["Runability" refers to keeping the powder free-flowing during processing/manufacturing].
Q: Is NAD+ contraindicated in a client who has had cancer?
A: The function of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ( NAD+) mediated reactions on the mechanism of apoptotic cell death is controversial [175] since it could act both pro - and anti-tumorogenic. The tumor promoting or inhibiting properties of the NAD+ may thus depend mainly on a) the stages of cancer development b) concentration of NAD+ and /or NAD+ / NADH ratio and c) (de) activation of PARPs and sirtuins.
